What does one do when the kids go to their dad's house for a couple of overnights?
Well. For starters, you take an uninterrupted soak in the tub for 1-1/2 hours and don't even feel guilty about it. Silence is a precious commodity, after all. Then, throwing caution to the wind, you heat up your fancy-sounding leftovers (last night's risotto) in cheap Styrofoam, making a mental note to be sure and buy more disposable dishes next time you're out and about. You gather together last month's Marie Claire and that overdue library book you've yet to finish. You settle in under the covers and look around at your new life, the life that looks different than it did a year or maybe 6 months ago. Then...then you put on some Gladys Knight and the Pips and give thanks for what good you know lies ahead, even if the good still seems a thousand miles away.
